A collection of Mexican art

The MUNAG collection approaches Mexican art from an unusual angle: the printed image. These are not unique works to hang on a wall, but pieces made to be multiplied and reach many people.

It brings together pre-Hispanic stamps, colonial religious engravings, 19th-century lithographs and political cartoons, original plates by José Guadalupe Posada and Manuel Manilla, prints by Leopoldo Méndez and Alfredo Zalce, and playing cards printed in Mexico.

That makes it a useful collection for anyone studying art, history, design or communication: it shows how the country's visual culture looked, sold and was produced.
